In Oct. 2009 Yomiuri newspaper conducted an opinion poll on how many books people read in a year. 53% of the people didn’t read any books. This percentage is getting higher with advancing age and 70% of people who are older than 70 years old didn’t read any books.
My father was born in 1926 and will become 84 years old in Jan. 2010. He wasn’t able to go to school because of financial problem and he never read any books except magazines. After he became a Christian, he read the Bible once a week at a church. Surprisingly, he started to read Christian books.
Although people read many books in youth, some of them stop reading books as they grow older. Even though our appearance withers, yet our spirit is being renewed day by day. I thank the grace of the Lord.
