A time when we send off

Malia who was in Sapporo for 2 months left here on 24th of Aug. We missed her smile. After someone left, we realize how important the person is. When we sent her off at the airport, we missed her but we have one more thing to look forward to.
Kazuko, a member of C.O.R., sent her mother off to heaven. Her last time after 95 years in this world was with her daughter, Kazuko, in a patient’s bedroom. It is sad to send a mother off to heaven but Christians have a faith to see her again in heaven (God’s kingdom). We will have one more thing to look forward to going to heaven to see God’s glory in Kingdom.
The Lord is great. Our life is wonderful and God’s kingdom is more wonderful.
John 14:1~4

人を見送る時

約２ヶ月の間、札幌に滞在したマリアが８月２４日にハワイに帰国しました。彼女の笑顔が見られなくなるのは、みんなにとって寂しいことです。　家族というのは、いなくなった時に、その人の存在がいかに大きなものかが分かります。彼女を空港に見送るときは寂しさもありましたが、その分、次にハワイに行く時の期待や楽しみは大きくなります。

札幌のC.O.Rの和子さんは、８月１３日に、お母さんを天国に見送りました。９５年間の地上での最後の時間は、二人きりの病室でした。
母親を見送ることは、寂しく、悲しいことです。しかし、クリスチャンには、天国（神の御国）で再び会える信仰があります。素晴らしい神の御国に、凱旋する時の楽しみが、またひとつ増えることになるのです。主はいつも最高のお方です。人生は素晴らしい、神の御国はもっと素晴らしい。

ヨハネの福音書１４章１～４節

A hut built in India

2 months had passed since a church in Andra Pradesh state lost a place to worship God. Christians in Japan have prayed from our heart that He gives a place for worship. How many times do they have to experience the same thing? Although they explained everything to an owner of a house, paid a rent every month, and kept a promise, they had to move out of their land many times. Since they are Christians and dalit people, they are in a vulnerable position.
One day, one of Christian landlord lent them his land. They started to build a hut in a rush. While they were building the hut, the landlord didn’t ask them to pay a rent. Since the land is next to a buffalo’s breeding place, it smells of excretion and has many bugs. Even some Indians think the place is unsanitary. But the land is a long-awaited place where they can praise and worship God. In the Bible, it talks about rebuilt David’s tabernacle. When, where, and how was the tabernacle built? The tabernacle is a place filled with God’s presence and glory. The Christians who built the hut have to move out from there within 3 years but on that day, God himself will prepare a new David’s tabernacle for them. We keep praising and worshipping God until the Lord comes back again.

A promise with friends

It is wonderful for Christians to have God’s family and friends in the world. Chin Ee and Sis were in Sapporo as an English teacher for 1 year. Chin Ee is very friendly and made many friends here. Sis is a master of cooking. His Thai Curry was a masterpiece. When they left Japan, everyone cried and cried. They gave me a coin and I made a promise to visit them and use the coin. At that time, I couldn’t afford to go there and also I was busy visiting other places so I couldn’t keep the promise.
Finally, I could go to Gren Waverly, a suburb of Melbourne, where they live in Feb. 2009. They said, “It took so long but you made it.”
They had children and live in a house with a swimming pool. (But they are burying the pool because it costs a lot.) I had a wonderful time with them and their relatives. Also, I went to Great Ocean Road to see rock pillars called the twelve disciples and fully enjoyed myself.
It was a short visit but the time with friends was a treasure in my life and I fulfilled our promise.
In the Bible, there are covenants between God and people. It is difficult for Japanese people to understand a concept of covenant. In Japanese language, we say ‘to tie up (musubu) a contract” so if something happens, we can untie it. In Jews, they say ‘to cut (kiru) a contract”. In times of the Bible, people thought it is acceptable to be killed just like a sacrificial animal, if they break a covenant.
In the Bible, many covenants are written but old covenants were for Israelite and new covenants are for all people. God is so faithful that He has stood by His covenant till today. We can experience a grace of the Lord and a depth of His love when we understand God’s unchanged covenants.

A person who encourages and strengthens

Pastor Moore came from Hawaii in January, 2009. Everyone re-realized joy to serve the Lord through his message and seminar. He always finds young people without experience and builds them up. Religious people and ‘old wine skin’ type of people try to put an unnecessary burden on non Christians. It hasn’t changed since times of the Bible. However, the ministry of Pastor Moore encourages and strengthens people of the Lord. His ministry isn’t different from the ministry of the prophets and ‘new wine skin’ type of people in the Bible.

インドに建った一つの小屋

アンドラプラデシュ州にある教会が礼拝する場所を失って、約二カ月が経ちました。日本にいる僕たちは、心を痛めて祈り続けました。
このような体験は、もう何度目でしょうか。始めから全ての事情を説明し、きちんと家賃も収め、約束は守っているのにも関わらず・・。
彼らはクリスチャンであり、不可触民でもあるため、インドでは最も弱い立場なのです。
そんな時、一人のクリスチャン地主が土地を貸してくれました。
彼らは、大急ぎで小屋の建設を始めます。建設の間、地主は一切賃料を要求しませんでした。それは、水牛の飼育場所のすぐ横であり、糞尿の匂いが漂い、虫が多く、地元の人から見ても不衛生な場所です。
しかし、彼らにとって、待ちに待った礼拝と賛美を捧げる場所なのです。
聖書には、建て直されるダビデの幕屋が書かれています。
それは、いつ、どこに、どのような方法で、実現したのでしょうか。
幕屋は、神の臨在と栄光が満ちるところです。
この場所も、長くても三年以内には、立ち退かなければなりません。
しかし、その日には、必ず神様が新たなダビデの幕屋を用意してくださるのです。
私たちは、主が再び来られる日まで、礼拝と賛美を捧げ続けるのです。　　

使徒の働き１５章１６～１８節

友との約束

クリスチャンにとって素晴らしいことは、世界中に神の家族、また、友を持つことです。
チン・イーとシスは、一年間、英会話講師として札幌に滞在していました。奥さんのチン・イーは明るくて、誰とでもすぐ友人になれました。
御主人のシスはというと、何と料理の達人です。彼の作ったタイ・カレーは、誰もがうなるほどの絶品でした。
そんな二人がオーストラリアに帰国する時は、みんな涙・涙でした。別れの時に、硬貨をプレゼントされて、これを使うためにオーストラリアに行く約束をしました。当時は経済的な余裕がなく、ここ数年は国内・海外と忙しく飛び回っていたため、彼らに会いに行くことが出来ませんでした。
今年の２月に、ようやく彼らの住むメルボルン郊外のグレン・ウエバリーに行きました。
「本当に来てくれたのね！でも、ずいぶん長かった！」これが第一声でした。
彼らには子どもが産まれて、今の住居は、何と！プール付の中古の一軒屋でした。（ちなみに、維持費がかかるため、プールは土で埋めていました。）彼らと妹夫婦の家で楽しく過ごし、また、念願のグレート・オーシャン・ロード（十二使徒と呼ばれる岩がそびえたつ海岸）に感動し、初オセアニアを大満喫しました。
短い滞在でしたが、友との時間は人生の財産です。

こうして、友人との約束を果たしたわけですが、聖書には神と人との契約が描かれています。日本人には、分かりにくいのが契約の概念です。日本では「契約を結ぶ」と言いますが、「結ぶ」ですから状況が変わると簡単にほどけるのが日本の契約です。ユダヤ人は「契約を切る」と表現します。
聖書の時代は、この契約を破ったなら自分はこのようにされてもかまわない、と動物をほふったのです。
聖書には様々な契約が出てきますが、古い契約はイスラエル民族、新しい契約は全人類に対するものです。神は、今日に至るまで、一方的に与えてくださった契約を守ってくださる真実なお方です。たとえ、人間の状態がどうであっても、変わることのない神の契約を知るその時に、私たちは主の恵みと、その愛の深さを体験することができるのです。

エレミヤ書３１章３３節

励まし、力づける人

今年１月にハワイからＲモア牧師がやってきました。
そのメッセージとセミナーによって、参加者は主に仕える喜びを再認識しました。
彼は、常に、純粋な若者や経験のない者を見つけ出し、育てる働きをしています。宗教家や古い皮袋は、必要のない重荷を人々に負わせようとします。それは、聖書の時代と何も変わっていません。
しかし、Ｒモア牧師の働きは、聖徒たちを励まし、力づけています。
それもまた、聖書の時代に生きた預言者や新しい皮袋と何も変わっていないのです。
