待ち望む時

いよいよ今年もハワイチームがやってきます。
この時期、札幌の教会は、彼らが来ることを楽しみに待っています。

キリスト者にとって、最も待ち望むものは何でしょうか？

それは、主イエス様の再臨です。

いつ、どのように、全世界の人がそれを目にするかは分かりません。
確かなことは、花嫁（教会）を迎えに来る花婿として、来て下さるということです。
それは、素晴らしい祝宴の時です。

ヨハネの福音書　３章２９節

体と心

なかなか疲労が回復せず、二日続けてフット・マッサージを受けました。
従業員の方は「どうして、もっと早くこなかったのですか！」と驚かれました。

足はむくみ、筋肉も足首もがちがちの状態でした。
翌日からは、足が軽くなり疲れも和らぎました。

人の体は、疲れると硬くなり、けがや病につながります。
それは、体だけのことではありません。
強情、頑なな心も決して良い状態ではありません。

神様の霊が注がれる時、石のように硬い心も、血のかよった肉の心に変えられるのです。

主よ、どうぞ、柔軟な体と幼子のような心に変え続けてください。

エゼキエル書　１１章１９節

聖書の一致、この世の一致

今年の６月に、スイスのジュネーブにおいて世界福音同盟（ＷＥＡ）世界教会協議会（ＷＣＣ）司教協議会（ＰＣＩＤ）という３大宗教組織が「信仰の実践で一致する」という発表をしました。

果たして、これは歴史的快挙なのでしょうか？
これこそが、神のご計画なのでしょうか？

もちろん、仲間割れするより一致するのが良いのは当たり前のことです。
ただ、このロジックだけで判断することは誤りです。

なぜなら、これは聖書にある一致ではないからです。

聖霊は良心であると語る者や聖人崇拝する者などの聖書の根幹に関わる部分が異なる者たちと、いとも簡単に異端の術中にはまり、利用される組織が巨大ネットワークを誕生させたにすぎません。

この世の一致は、かしらであるキリスト中心ではなく、人が中心であり、政治的、世俗的な産物と言えるでしょう。

聖書と聖霊は、このような時代にあって、教会は「信仰と愛と御霊によって」一致するようにと語っているのです。

詩篇　１２７編１節

言い伝えと真理のことば

東日本大震災の被災地から戻った時に、久しぶりにさかむけが出来ていました。
日本では、古くから「親不幸するとさかむけになる」と言われています。
本当の原因は、つめ周りの乾燥、血行不良、引っかけた傷、免疫力の低下等だそうです。

たわいもない言い伝えですが、何の根拠も無いものでも、信じてしまう人には何らかの影響があるものです。

それに対して、神のみことばは何と語っているでしょうか。
「あなたの父と母を敬いなさい。そうすればしあわせと長生きが与えられる」
どのような結びつきがあるのか、理解できない人もいるでしょう。

じつは、人のアイデンティティやセルフイメージに直結する問題なのです。
どれ程多くの人が、この問題でもがき、苦しんでいるのでしょうか？

私たちは、何の根拠も無い言い伝えに影響されるのではなく、神の口から出る一つ一つのことばに思いを向けるべきです。

詩篇　１１９編５０節

なぜ、大国は勝てなかったのか？

ホーチミンには、戦争博物館があります。
そこには、目を覆いたくなる現実がありました。
長期に渡り、多くの犠牲者を生みだした戦争で、アメリカはベトナムに勝てませんでした。

あまりにも有名なベトナム戦争の終了後、中国がベトナムに侵攻したのです。
しかし、わずか一カ月で中国軍は完全撤退します。
つまり、ベトナムはアメリカ、中国との連戦で、両大国に負けませんでした。

この結果は、ベトナム人の忍耐強さや、戦術もありますが、両大国には、高ぶりもあったのではないでしょうか。
特に中国は、圧倒的な兵力の差と、長年の戦争疲労から必ず勝てると思い侵攻したのでしょう。

聖書は、高ぶりは破滅に先立つと警告しています。
戦争は、双方にとって深い傷跡を残すことは言うまでもありません。
それにも関わらず、なぜ、戦争を避けられないのでしょう。
聖書には、高ぶりこそが争いの根源であるとも書かれています。

今日、自分の周囲で争いは無いでしょうか？
親子、夫婦、友人、あるいは教会の中で・・・。

戦争を回避することは、個人レベルではほとんど不可能でしょう。
しかし、互いに高ぶりを悔い改め、自分に関する争いを回避することは主のみこころです。

箴言１３章１０節

あの出来事から

今日９月１１日は、衝撃のアメリカ同時多発テロから１０年です。
あの日以来、アメリカはもちろん、世界は大きく変わりました。

また、今日９月１１日は、東日本大震災から６カ月です。
復興までには、さらに時間を要し、原発の問題は世界中に不安と恐れをもたらしました。

この二つの出来事に共通することは、それ以前の状況に戻ることは不可能だという現実です。

世界の日時計は、今日も時を刻み続けています。

しかし、私たちにはキリストにある希望が与えられています。

どんなに悲惨な現実があっても、また、以前の平和と安全が音をたてて崩れたとしても、信じる者にとって、主は慈愛に富み、あわれみに満ち、救い主なる御方なのです。

ヤコブの手紙　５章１１節

God's grace

We celebrated 15th wedding anniversary this June. When we got married, we stayed at View La Mer Hotel, where is already closed, in Shiraoi town with free accommodation coupons. It was unforgettable memory for us but at that time, we couldn’t afford to travel. We couldn’t imagine going abroad. As a memory of 15th wedding anniversary, we visited Vietnam where my wife wanted to go all her life. (This time we didn’t use free accommodation coupons but our miles.)

The most remarkable thing was a breakfast at Majestic Hotel. Half of the restaurant was open space and nearby Saigon River was so strikingly beautiful. This hotel is a landmark in Ho Chi Min city.

When Japan governed Vietnam, Majestic hotel was called Japan Hotel. In near future, the renovation work will start and it will be changed to high-rise hotel.

This is God’s grace because I could spend this wonderful time, although I serve as a worrier of God’s Kingdom.

People who get involved in God’s mission

I joined a half-day sightseeing tour of ISM on 18th of July. We enjoyed Otaru city, Okurayama Jump Stadium, and Hitsujigaoka Viewing Point. (We also enjoyed lunch at Naruto.) Participants are from America, Mexico, Kenya, Russia, and Bangladesh and they get involved in God’s mission. An interpreter and tour guide was Mr. Goodall who is a division chief of International department at CFNJ.

When I am in Japan, most of my time is spent unrelated things to God’s mission. Also, I almost close my heart because of a small thing. We, Japanese people, need to have a bigger perspective. When we know the gospel keeps spreading out to the world, our heart pounds and we screw up our courage.

Soul surfer

This is a true story of a surfer, Bethany Hamilton. When she was 13 years old, she was bit by a shark and lost her left arm but her growth as a Christian and a surfer through this tragedy makes an impression on us.

I read this book before but this time I watched a movie on board. We are changed to people who can trust God more by walking a valley of tears in our life.

The Great East Japan Earthquake – Huge iceberg was produced

Tsunami struck Tohoku area broke ice shelf and produced huge iceberg in the Antarctic Pole, 13,000 km from Japan. The unthinkable massive iceberg, 9.5 km long and 6.5 km wide, started to drift. When we see the earth from the space, there is no boarder. If something happens on this earth, it affects in other areas.

Churches in Japan might be filled with feeling of helplessness because it hasn’t changed anything for a long time. Satan tells a lie that our life or presence is in vain but I believe if a bad thing affects somewhere in this world, a person’s salvation gives a good influence on this world.
Lord, please cover this land with God’s gospel like Tsunami.

Jacob's water well and living water

When I took a look inside water well in India, I could see green things like alga on the surface of water. It’s impossible for Japanese people to drink this water. However, there are people who can’t drink even this water and drink only puddle of water which is infested with bugs. Summer in India is so hot. In inland areas, it is sometimes more than 50 degrees C.

Drinking water is necessary and fatal for people in this world. It was the same as a Samaritan woman. She went to the water well when no one was there. Her body was alive but her soul was dried up. Jesus told her, “The one who drinks my water will never be thirsty again.”

People across borders and time experience this thirstiness. We need living water which is from only the Lord, Jesus Christ.

John 4:10

Fabulousness of grand design

Whenever I go to Singapore, I feel the fabulousness of grand design. The International airport which is an entrance of this country opens for 24 hours and it’s convenient to transfer to other countries. The airport terminal is excellently furnished with shopping malls, free movies, and free tours. We don’t need to go outside to move to other terminals and it is designed simply. Moreover, a taxi and MRT is chap. That means, the entrance of this country, the life of this nation, their environmental measure, and their economic policy are designed consistently.

However, God’s grand design is much better than this world. The Creator created things from nothing and they are fabulous beyond human
understanding.

Different fruits

It happens in Bima, island of Sunbawa in Indonesia. A teacher at Islam boarding school taught how to make a bomb at home. In fact, the bomb exploded, the teacher died, and the principal was arrested. According to a newspaper, videos, books, and air rifles were found from the school building.

As the Bible says, they reaped what they had seeded. In contrast, if we seed what we received from God, no matter how long it takes, it makes fruits. The leaves will not wither and the Lord’s glory will be shown.

神の恵み

今年の６月で、結婚１５周年を迎えました。
新婚旅行は、忘れもしない白老温泉のビュラメール（すでに閉館）の無料宿泊券での連泊でした。
当時は、旅行に行く余裕もなく、まして、今のように海外に行くことは想像も出来ませんでした。

１５周年記念に、妻が一生の間に必ず行きたい国ベトナムを訪れました。
（今回は、無料宿泊券ではなくマイルです）

最も印象に残ったのが、マジェスティックホテルの朝食でした。
レストランの半分が、オープンスペースで、サイゴン川が目前です。
このホテルは、ホーチミンのランドマークで日本の統治時代は、日本ホテルと呼ばれていました。
近日中に大規模な改修工事が行われて、高層ホテルに生まれ変わるようです。

神の国の兵役についていながら、このような休暇を過ごせることは神の恵みです。
