素材かレシピか

北海道出身で世界的に有名なシェフ三國清三氏は、父親が漁師、母親は農家でした。
その幼少時代に、「素材そのもの」を味わう味覚が磨かれて育ちました。
彼の言葉に、レシピに素材をはめ込むのではなく、素材がメニューを決めるとあります。

日本では、世界中の信仰書が翻訳されていますし、インターネットやビデオなどで、様々な教えが簡単に入手できます。
また、経済大国がゆえに、世界中から講師を招き様々なセミナーを行うことも可能です。
本当に恵まれた国に生まれてきたと思います。

しかし、それらの教えを受け取る時に吟味する必要があります。
人の解釈に聖書をはめ込むのではなく、聖書がその教えを語っているかどうかです。

また、どんなに良い働きであったとしても、その動機までは目には見えません。
この時代は、一見すると聖書的ですが、巧妙に曲げられた教えや不純な動機でみことばを語る者も存在しているのです。

人間のからだに食物と水が必要なように、日々、みことばを頂き、また、聖霊ご自身に満される必要があります。
そして、人々に伝えることばとその動機も主の前に純粋なものであるべきです。

私たちは、多くの人のように、神のことばに混ぜ物をして売るようなことはせず、真心から、また神によって、神の御前でキリストにあって語るのです。

コリント人への手紙第二　２章１７節

自分の日を祝う

ヨブは、潔白で正しく、神を恐れ、悪から遠ざかった人でした。
そのヨブの家族は、誕生日には祝宴を開き、お祝いの食事をするのが習慣でした。

信じる者にとっては、いのちも人生も神様から与えられたものです。
ですから、自分の日はいくつになっても喜びであり、主への感謝は増していくのです。

写真は、今月２１日父親の誕生日を祝う夕食の様子です。
父は、最近「今日は、いい日だった」「本当に幸せだ」という言葉を口にします。

Benefits of chocolate

There are chocoholic lovers who are called “chocoholic” in this world.

Most foods in South Asia have different taste and fragrance. They are O.K. at first but I don’t want to eat them as much after a week. I remember that I was so glad to find “Kit-Kat” and just a bite made me happy.

When we look back to the history of chocolate, people ground cacao at first and started to drink it later. Chocolate had been very expensive by 17th century. Chocolate bars were commercialized in 18th century but after “Cadbury PLC” brought them out, they became products familiar with the public. The Quaker played a great role in managing the company and advertise chocolate to the people. (One of Christian denomination or movement at that time.) Quaker encouraged people to stop drinking and recommended chocolate instead of alcohol.

Chocolate brings us a sense of exaltation and a sweet emotion easily. When people drank cacao, they knew that it keeps out the heat and the cold and control people’s depression. Christians know what is beneficial than chocolate, isn’t harmful although we ingest it too much, is free (grace) and wonderful. That’s to be filled with the Holy Spirit. That’s much more wonderful than alcohol, chocolate or anything in this world.

Ephesians 5:18~19

Before-and-after

Here are 2 masks. One of them is the one I've used in India. I used this mask only inside the car and car windows were closed. (I don’t walk outside so much in India.)

God is perfect. In His eyes righteousness and cleanness of human beings are dirty like this mask. In this world, we see things white at first but they get worn out and dirty as time goes by. After we use them, they only turn black and they don’t clean off naturally. However, when sinners are born again through Jesus Christ, they experience a miracle of a holy heart no matter how unclean they are. Moreover, they will be renewed to be an appropriate children of God through the Holy Spirit every day. God’s love and grace are so wonderful!

Psalm 51:1~2

A snake, a scorpion, and a service

The Lord Jesus said; He gave believers an authority to step on snakes and scorpions.

This photo is the place where Christians in the suburb of South India have their service. Buffaloes are raised next to this building so it’s way less than hygienic. A poisonous snake came in this place twice. A poisonous scorpion entered this place 4 times during a night service. With poor condition like these, they can’t have a service safely. So they studied the character of snakes and scorpions and the time when they behave. They are careful of sounds and signs of their presence and they expel them immediately.

We are safe, free, and wealthy at churches in Japan. At the same time, some people are undefended against Satan’s temptation and evil spirit.

Satan and evil spirit will do a final desperate attempt in the end of the world. Believers need to go close to the Lord and be strengthened by Him instead of trembling by the enemy.

At the church in India, they saw snakes and scorpions. Invisible snakes or scorpions try to entice and deceive people in churches in Japan just like the church in India. Know your enemy and use your authority to step on and expel it instead of trembling or becoming undefended and ignorant this year.

Boys, Be ambitious! Part 3

Boys, Be ambitious in Christ!
It was so difficult for him to do what he wanted in Sapporo.
To speak English only to his students at that time.
To try to teach as a Christian toward the government of Japan.
To trust the Lord Jesus and not to compromise.
Students at that time understood, how precious life is with Christ.

Angel, Evil Spirit, and Prayer

There is a Christian novel, “This Present Darkness”, written by Frank E. Peretti. In 2006 this book was published from Samson Publications com. in Japan. If you read this book, you will understand easily the role of angel, the work of evil spirit, and what happens in invisible world. Japanese translation has 3 volumes but you can finish these books in one sitting. The most wonderful thing is to understand how important believer’s prayer is.

Various ways of flying

I flit hither and thither last year. When I became a Christian, It's amazing that I travel on a plane so often but there are some users who fly with surprisingly-high frequency.

Jet setter
Literally, jet setters are businessmen who travel all over the world. Of course, they are regular attendants of business class. It sounds good, isn’t it?

Ascetic trainer
Each airline company has a mileage program. (In England, it’s FFP.) Ascetic trainers are the people who keep boarding to become the highest member of the program. (They don’t get on the flight for business or traveling.) They take a connection instead of a direct flight or make a round trip many times on the same route to save mileage.

Miler
Milers are the people who try to save mileage as much as possible. They use a campaign or go shopping with a mileage card and get a free travel voucher.

How do Christians fly? The Bible says we fly like an eagle. An eagle is the symbol of king among birds. Some countries use this bird on their national flag or an emblem and hope to make a huge leap. Christians walk on God’s plan which is more sublime than any goals in this world. This world might not understand this but Christians keep running without weary and walking without tiring. They are like a rising eagle toward the Lord, Jesus, who is the sun of righteous.

Isaiah 40:27~31

インド・ひとり残らず泥棒の村

またまた、インドから衝撃のニュース（！？）が流れて来ました。
村民全員が泥棒の村が存在するというのです。（１月１８日のロケットニュースから）

昨年１２月末に逮捕された４人を警察が取り調べたところ、全員が同じ村の住人であることが判明しました。
捜査では、村全体で泥棒教育をしていることや、地元警察までも公認（？）し、逮捕された泥棒のために村民が資金を募り弁護士を雇っているのだそうです。

聖書には、全ての人は罪人であると書かれています。
これも衝撃のニュースですが、真実です。
ローマ人への手紙７章１９～２０節に、この罪とは、一つの行為ではなく、内側に宿る性質であり、良い人になりたいと思いながらも悪いことを考えてしまう、あるいは、実行してしまうことが書かれています。

しかし、聖書にはそれらを上回る良いニュースが書かれています。
それは、神の恵みにより、ひとり残らず義と認められる道があることです。
キリスト・イエスを信じる信仰によって義とされる、何と素晴らしいニュースでしょう。

ローマ人への手紙３章２１～２４節

スリランカの洪水

写真は、被災した現地から送られてきたものです。

スリランカでは１００年ぶりの集中豪雨のため、被災者が１００万人以上と推測されています。
死者も判明しているだけで２３名、家を失い、途方に暮れる人々であふれています。
また、洪水の後には、マラリヤやコレラなどの感染が予想されます。

政府軍と少数民族の内戦がようやく終結したばかりの天災でした。
チャーチオンザロックにとって、この国の出来事は他人事ではありません。
神様は、僕をこの国でトレーニングして下さり、後のミニストリーに必要な基礎を築いて下さったのです。

読者のみなさんも、それぞれ、神様からの訓練を受けた場所があると思います。
もしかすると、今は遠く離れた場所であるかも知れません。
しかし、どれ程時間がたっても訓練を受けていた時を忘れずに、また、その地のために祈り続けて下さい。

スリランカの一日も早い復興と被災者への慰めのためにお祈りします。

ヤコブの手紙５章１３～１６節

A house on the rock

A church in Bagdad, Iraq was attacked by a terrorist group affiliated with Al-Qaida in the evening on 13th of Oct. 2010 and they hold hostages at the church. Lastly, American army and Iraqi army tried to save them but about 60 people lost their lives. After this terror, Al-Qaida confessed the crime to the public and said churches in the world are their target.

Osama bin Laden, a leader of terrorist organization, has body guards under a rock and only gives directions to terrorists. Also, anti-Americans blame America but kept silence to this kind of terror. This is only absurd. However, on 7th of Nov. more than 60 people got together in the church where it was attacked.

Many people understand that a church can’t fight back to despicable act of terrorism and is subject to attack unilaterally. It is impossible for suppression to achieve the purpose in history. No matter how severe a persecution is and no matter how much blood is shed, a church rises up more because a church is the only God’s house which was built on the rock of salvation.

Enjoy and rejoice this day

This photo is Kenrokuen garden in Kanazawa city. I was asked by a non-Christian, when was the best time in my life. I answered immediately, “Right now” and she was so surprised. This day is the day the Lord gives me after I met the Savior. When I think God’s grace was piled up yesterday to today, today to tomorrow, this day is the best.

Christmas at our home

A Christmas tree was decorated by my father this year. This is an actual case that he became a father who focuses on being a family after receiving Jesus. I wanted to leave it behind on the Chronicle of Ohigashi family so I took this photo. It is hard not to thank God.

Christmas this year

A new thing was planned at Church on the Rock Nakanoshima this year. This was not started because a pastor had recommended. Church members started it voluntarily.

A true service is not because we are on-duty in the church or we come to recognize by someone. If you serve others with the feeling above, you get tired and can’t feel true joy. However, if you serve others voluntarily in front of God, you will have a power and joy from the Lord.

I was so glad to see this new plan so I took this photo. It is hard not to thank God.

Psalm 81:1

Beggar's organization

It is full of life on the street of India. Honking horns, walking buffaloes, angry people shouting, and beggars. Foreigners don’t get used to see a beggar so they give him or her coins out of pity. It is tricky that there is a true beggar in unavoidable circumstance and a member of beggar’s organization. To tell the truth, his or her annual income is more than the average annual income in India.

A policeman conducted sting operation against the organization. According to the operation, each area has a leader and he manages profit. The most surprising thing is an education system for a beggar. Intern learns patience, expression, and technique of a picker. Lastly, he or she learns how to use chemicals.

It is clear that a beggar has professional awareness. Japanese people think he or she should use his or her labor to other thing. It is true that children of this world are quicker to trigger for themselves than children of the light. Christians are saved by God’s grace and faith but we might need to be quicker to trigger than worldly children of this world for God.

Luke 16:8

A girl who was shoved away

I saw this happening near my house a few years ago. A boy and a girl were walking but their distance started to get a long lead and the boy shoved her away. He walked toward her so I took his arm and said, “Is it a good thing or a bad thing to push her? Be kind to a girl.” I asked him why he shoved her away. He started to cry and said, “Because she doesn’t go home with me.” Although he likes her so much and he wants to go home together, it’s impossible for her to like him with this attitude.

Is it because they are immature? We, adults, say “the greatest hate springs from the greatest love.” Doesn’t the same thing happen within a relationship in a church?

The Bible says we battle and quarrel if we can’t get what we want. (If it keeps reaching new heights, it becomes a murder.) The Bible tells us the cause of rage and the origin is our sin. If this boy really wants to go home with her, it is clear that the best way is to be kind to her and tell her honestly how he thinks. God the Father renews us to act in the Spirit and ask Him the best not to live by our flesh, our character which inherited from Adam.

James 4:1~2

Boys, be ambitious! Part 2

Dr. Clark’s word of wisdom in history is told in several scenes. Let me introduce words after “Boys, be ambitious!”

Boys, be ambitious! It’s not for money, self-satisfaction, and a momentary thing, such as fame in this world. Be ambitious for achieving everything as human being.

We may gain high reputation from people, prosperity, or satisfaction by God’s blessing but these things shouldn't be the purpose or guideline for Christians. It is absolutely a result with big aspiration in front of great God.

Mathew 6:20~21

This age and Israel

The Bible teaches us that Israel has an important meaning in God’s plan. Christians need to comprehend the situation of this country properly to understand this age. However, it’s very complicated to do so because of lack of information in Japan and also information from pro-Israel, pro-Palestine, and anti-Israel is becoming snarled. We understand from the statements of main country that Israel is insulated from the world.

Recently, Israel announced that more than 600 buildings will be built in the east of Jerusalem. President Obama who had defended Israel declared it is not favorable for peace parleys. Also, the President of Brazil who is one of BRICs countries clarified to support Palestine. (This is also in God’s great providence.)

Israel doesn’t always judge properly in front of God. Blessing doesn’t always agree to do whatever other people say. We don’t always assimilate Israeli biblical interpretation or belief. However, true Christians receive a mission from God, that is to pray for peace in Jerusalem no matter what the situation of Israel is although they deny Jesus.

Psalm 122:6~7

チョコレートの効用

世界中には、「チョコホリック」と呼ばれるほどのチョコ好きがいます。
南アジアに行く時は、ほとんどの食べ物は、味も香りも刺激も日本とは異なります。
初めは良いのですが、１週間以上続くと食事はきついですね。

そんな時に、「キット・カット」を見つけて、嬉しかったことを憶えています。
一口食べただけで、とても幸せな気分になりました。

チョコレートの歴史は、まず、カカオを粉にすることから始まり、次第に飲料として飲まれましたが、１７世紀まではとても高価だったそうです。
板状のものは１８世紀に商品化されますが、本当に身近な食べ物になったのは「キャドバリー社」がチョコバーを発売した時からのようです。

この会社の経営と、チョコバー普及に大きな役割を果たしたのが、クエーカー（当時のキリスト教の派あるいは運動）の人々でした。
彼らは、禁酒を勧めていたことから、その効用に目を向けてお酒の代わりに広めていきました。

チョコレートは、手軽に幸せな気分や高揚感をもたらします。
カカオを飲料としていた時には、暑さや寒さを防ぎ、憂うつな気分を抑えるなど薬用としても知られていました。

そして、キリスト者は、チョコ以上の効果があり、摂りすぎても害はなく、ただ（恵み）であり、素晴らしいものを知っています。
それは、聖霊に満たされることです。
それは、お酒よりも、チョコレートよりも、この世の何ものよりももっと素晴らしい！

エペソ人への手紙　５章１８～１９節

使用前・使用後

ここに、２枚のマスクがあります。
１枚は実際にインドで使用した後です。
驚くべきことは、このマスクは車内で、しかも窓を閉めた状態でしか使っていません。
（インド滞在中は、ほとんど外を歩くことがないのです）

神様は、完全に聖なる御方です。
その前では、人間の正しさ・清さとは、使用後のマスクのように汚れたものです。

この世界では、最初はどんなに白く見えても、時間が経過するごとに、古くなり、汚れてしまいます。
使用後は、ただ黒くなるのみで、自然に綺麗になることはありません。

しかし、罪人がイエスキリストによって、新しく生まれるその時に、どんなに汚れた者でも、きよい心が造られるという奇跡を体験します。
さらに、素晴らしいことは、聖霊の働きによって、日々、神の子にふさわしく変えられていくというのです。
何という神の愛、何という恵みでしょう。

詩篇　５１篇１～２節

蛇とさそりと礼拝と

主イエスは、信じる者に蛇やサソリを踏みつける権威を授けたと言われました。
この写真は、南インド郊外にある実際に礼拝している場所です。
水牛が飼育され、お世辞にも衛生的とは言えません。

そればかりか、この周囲に２度、毒蛇が現れました。
夜の集会には、毒サソリが４回侵入しました。
このような劣悪な環境でなければ、安全に（？）礼拝することができない地域なのです。
その為、彼らは蛇やさそりの性質、行動する時間、音や気配を知り、見つけたならただちに駆除するのです。

日本の教会には、安全と自由、豊かさがあります。
同時に、悪魔の誘惑、悪霊の働きに対して無防備の人もいるでしょう。
終わりの時代が進むにつれ、悪魔と悪霊たちも最後のあがきをするのです。

信じる者は、敵を恐れるのではなく、ますます主に近づいて強められる必要があります。
インドの教会では、現実に、蛇やさそりとの遭遇を体験しています。
同じように、日本の教会にも目に見えない蛇やさそりが、誘惑や惑わしを仕掛けてくるのです。

この新しい年、無知や無防備、恐れるのではなく、敵を知り、踏みつけて駆除する権威を行使していきましょう。

ボーイズ・ビー・アンビシャス３

クラーク博士が様々な場面で語られた「きめぜりふ」ですが、最も彼らしい使われ方はこれに尽きるでしょう。

それは、青年よ、大志を抱け！の後に、イン・クライストと語ったことです。
開拓期の札幌において、彼が行おうとしたことは困難を極めました。

その時代の若者に対し、会話はすべて英語だったこと。
当時の日本政府に対し、クリスチャンとして教えようとしたこと。
そして、主キリストに信頼し、決して、妥協しなかったこと。

当時の生徒たちは、キリストにあっての人生がどれ程、尊いものであるかを知ったことでしょう。

ピリピ人への手紙　３章１２節

天使・悪霊・祈り

「この暗闇の世界」（原題：This Present Darkness 著者：Frank E.Pertti）というクリスチャン小説があります。
日本では、２００６年にサムソン・パブリケーションズから発行されました。
天使の役割、悪霊の働き、目に見えない世界で起こっている事が分かりやすく描かれています。
上～下巻の３冊（英語は１冊）ですが、一気に読み終えるほどの秀作です。

そして、何よりも素晴らしいのは、信じる者の祈りがどれ程大切なのかが理解出来ることです。

エペソ人への手紙　６章１８節

様々な飛び方

昨年も、たくさんのフライトで飛び回りました。
イエス様を信じた時、まさか、こんなに空路を利用するとは、想像できませんでした。
しかし、世の中には驚くほど、多頻度の利用者がいるのです。

ジェット・セッター
文字通り、世界を股にかけ飛び回るビジネスマン。
当然、ビジネスクラスの常連である。
響きが格好良いですね。

修行僧
各航空会社には、マイレージ・プログラム（英語圏ではＦＦＰ）があります。
その内で、（ビジネスや旅行でなく）最上級会員になるのが目的で乗り続ける人々。
マイルを少しでも多くためるために、（直行便ではなく）周遊したり、同じ路線を一日に何往復もしたりする。

マイラー
上記ほどではないが、少しでもマイルが多くたまるように意識して乗る人々。
フライトだけではなく、キャンペーンや買物なども多用し、無料航空券をＧＥＴする。

では、キリスト者はどのような飛び方なのでしょうか？

聖書には、「鷲のように翼をかって」とあります。
鷲は、その姿から鳥の中の王者に象徴されます。
国旗や紋章に採用する国もあり、飛躍する願いを込めて使われることもあります。

キリスト者は、この世の中のどんな目的よりも崇高である神の計画を歩みます。
世の価値観からすると、理解されないかも知れませんが、たゆむことなく走り続け、疲れを知らないかのごとく歩き続けるのです。
それは、あたかも義の太陽である主キリストに向かい、上昇を続ける鷲のようです。
