天国への凱旋

テキサス州ダラスから一通の手紙が届きました。

いつものように聖書学校からのニュースレターかと思い、開封すると一人の女性の写真が入っていました。
その写真の女性は「母」リンゼイ（Freda Lindsay）で、
３月２５日に天に召されたという内容でした。
彼女の存在は、暗闇の支配者たちにとって、大変な脅威だったでしょう。

日本ではよく「惜しい人を亡くした」と言います。
しかし、彼女には主の兵士としての使命を果たした「天国への凱旋」という表現がぴったりです。
勝利者がオープンカーに乗ってパレードをするように、そして、群衆のスタンディングオベーションに迎えられながら、彼女は天国へと向かったのです。

ハレルヤ！　主の御名をほめたたえます！

詩編１３５編１～４節

いつまで待てば

写真は、インドで料理を作っている様子です。
水を井戸まで汲みに行き、火をおこし、ご飯を炊いて、カリーを調合する。
お腹をすかせた子どもには、「いつまで待てば」と気が遠くなる思いでしょう。

インドで驚かされたのは、待たされる時間です。
僕たちはホテルで待つのですが、約束の時間から８時間遅れで来た牧師もいます。

チャーチオンザロックの牧師には、約束を守ることを教えています。
最初は３～４時間遅れることもあったので、「日本人との約束は、オン・タイム」を厳しく伝えました。
本人は反省した様子でしたが、あることに気付きました。
彼らは、時計を持っていなかったのです。（もちろん、当時は携帯電話も持っていませんでした。）
これでは無理もないと思い、腕時計をプレゼントしました。
彼らにとっては、生まれて初めてのことで、何度も手首を眺めていました。

私たち日本人は、時間を意識し、こだわる国民性です。
乗り物の接続、診察の待ち時間、プレゼンテーションの残り時間・・・。
どれも、把握できないことにストレスを感じます。
主イエス様の再臨に関しても、どうしても知りたいと思う人がいるようです。
しかし、主は「いつとか、どんなときとかいうことは、あなたがたは知らなくてもよいのです」と語られます。
主の約束は、確かなものです。
神が教会に望んでいることは、信仰を持ち、いつでも目をさましていることです。

テサロニケ人への手紙第一　５章５節～６節

What you lost and what you get

This man had a car accident in August, 2009 and was in criminal condition. In India, minor collision happens daily and ignored as if nothing happens but serious accident means the death of victims.
This man lost one of his legs, had complicated fracture on his arm and was in excessive bleeding. He was carried to a hospital but a doctor told his family that there is nothing to do, so church members prayed for him desperately. He used to come to church but he refused to believe the Lord Jesus because he thought he would lose many things if he believes Him.
He survived from unconsciousness with 6 liter blood transfusion. His son also fractured 8 places on his arms but he is recovered favorably.
Right now, the man who lost one of his legs stands with his another leg and worships the Lord with his painful arms. He lost something but he received a life full of blessing from God.
Genesis 32:30

Status

There is a movie called “Mileage, My life”. (English title is “Up in the Air”.) The main character flies all over America for a business trip for 332 days a year and aims to get a goal mileage which only 6 people in the world accomplished.
When we get on a plane, we can earn miles. When we buy something, we can earn points. Each airline company has a mileage program and when we get on an airplane certain times a year or earn certain miles a year, we can get a status of a higher grade member. Also, we can do pre-boarding, get bonus miles, and use lounge at an airport. However, although we have these benefits, some people don’t understand the value of them and don’t use them. Also, some people become arrogant they give pressure to the airline company because they are use to the benefit.
Normally, people understand benefits and use them sufficiently. If we do so, we are freed from a wearisome business trip and enjoy a comfortable trip.
In the same way, Christians understand as God’s children and through God’s grace and experience an amazing comfortable journey.
Receive the promise of God’s kingdom in your life.

Joy of let go of the ring

This photo is an English and Japanese version of “Let go of the ring” written by Pastor Ralph. This time, a revised Japanese version with a new book binding was published from New life league, Japan.
Do you know the story of “The Lord of the Ring”? The main character, Frodo, starts on a journey to discard the ring which has a power to control the world without falling into the wrong hands. (The one who has this ring is fascinated by the power and can’t let go of.)
What is the thing that you can’t let go? What are they? It might be wealth, property, status, honor, hobby, job, marriage, children, and so on.
It is hard to let go of the ring for most of the people including Christians and people don’t understand why it is a joy to do it. We can call it a “mystery” which only experienced people understand. When we let go of the most fascinated thing in front of God, wonderful world which you can’t imagine is waiting for you.
Jesus who came to this world as a human being abandoned His existence, which is God. Philippians 2:6~8
Salvation is receive only through grace and faith was fulfilled by Jesus’s precious sacrifice.
Philippians 3:7~9

Sign of the reserved seat

When I sit on a reserved seat, I see quite many people who sit on a reserved seat without a ticket. They don’t have any problem with their sight and can read Kanji. They just didn’t notice the sign and think about it. Does this happen only in a train?
It is normal that those who don’t know God don’t know where to go and how they live. (I used to be like them.)
How about Christians? Even when we don’t think anything and are overwhelmed by the surrounding circumstances, we can’t stop a clock. We buy a ticket and get on a public transportation. It’s not difficult to do it and all part of the day’s work.
The Holy Spirit is a helper who works everyday for believers. When we get up in the morning, go shopping, drive a car, study, and take care of others, the Holy Spirit is always with us and helps us.

世界に良い影響を

毎年「世界に良い影響を与えている国」の世論調査が行われています。
以下は、昨年の１１月から今年２月までの３３カ国対象の調査の結果です。　

１位ドイツ５９％　２位日本５３％　３位イギリス　と続きます。
参考までに、悪い影響ですが、１位イラン５６％　２位パキスタン５１％　３位イスラエル５０％となりました。
あくまでも目安にすぎませんが、日本にとっては嬉しい評価です。

影響というものは目には見えませんが、体感することは可能です。
同じように、香りも目には見えませんが、体感することができます。

日本の教会も、神のかぐわしい香りを放ち、この世界に良い影響を与えることができることを主に祈りましょう。

日本を愛する人

写真の男性は、チャールズ・グリコ氏です。
彼とダイアン夫人は、主の導きに従って日本を愛し、人生を捧げたご夫婦です。

初めてグリコ氏と出会ったのは１９９０年で、その時、僕は未信者でした。
罪人である自分に、彼は手をおいて祈ってくれました。
その後、吸い込まれるように、教会に足が向かいました。

それまで、約６カ月、一般に言うリベラル派（＊１）の日曜礼拝に行っていましたが（＊２）イエスキリストと自分の関係は全く分かりませんでした。
中には、熱心な人たちもいて祈ってくれたのですが、自分には何の変化もなく絶望していた時でした。

彼の祈りは、まるで子どもが純粋にお父さんに向かって語っている姿のようでした。
主は、正しい者の祈りを聞かれる御方です。

箴言１５章２９節

（＊１）著者は～派という分類は聖書的ではないと信じる立場です
（＊２）信仰が無いので礼拝することはできず、参加のために行っていたという意味です。

失い、そして、得たもの

この男性は、０９年８月の交通事故で危篤状態になりました。
インドでは、多少の接触事故は何事もなかったかのように運転を続けます。
そして、深刻な交通事故は死を意味するのです。実際に、搬送中に心臓が止まり、携帯電話を通しての祈りにより生き返りました。

この男性は、片足を失い、腕も複雑骨折、大量出血の状態で病院に運ばれました。
医者は助からない旨を家族に伝え、教会は必至に主に祈りました。

彼は以前から、時々、礼拝に来ていましたが、主イエスを信じることは拒んでいました。
自分の置かれている環境では、失うものが多いと考えたからです。
彼は、６リットルの輸血と意識不明の状態から生還しました。
子供は両腕８か所を骨折しましたが、順調に回復しています。

今の彼は、片足で立ち上がり、痛みが残る腕で主に礼拝を捧げています。
失ったものもありましたが、神に祝福された人生を得たからです。

ステータス

最近話題になったマイレージ・マイライフ（オリジナルタイトルUp in the Air）という映画があります。
年間３３２日も出張で全米を飛び回る主人公が、
過去６人しか達成していない目標のマイレージを目指す人生を描いた作品です。

飛行機に乗るとマイルが貯まります。
買物をするとポイントがたまるように、航空会社ごとにプログラムを持っていて、年間何回利用とか何万マイル搭乗すると、
上級会員のステータスがもらえます。

これには、ベネフィット（特典）があり、優先搭乗やボーナスマイル等に加えて、空港にあるラウンジが利用できます。

ところが、このステータスを持っていても、その価値が理解できず活用しない人もいるようです。
また、慣れてしまうと、傲慢になり過度の要求をする人も出てきます。

スマートな人は、その価値を理解し、特典を十分に活用する人です。
そうすれば、疲れるだけの出張から、快適で楽しめる旅行へと変わるはずです。

同様にクリスチャンは、神の子とされる立場、与えられる恵みを十分に理解し、おどろくほど快適な人生という旅行を体験することができるのです。

Sunday service

A surprising thing in Indonesia is the time of Sunday service. Several churches start from 5:00 a.m. on Sundays. We are easy to have a fixed idea and believe circumstances of our upbringing are standards.
Some people insist Saturday Sabbath. (By comparison, from sundown on Friday to sundown on Saturday is Sabbath for Judaism.)
In New covenant, believers are not under a law. The reason why we worship God on Sundays is to rejoice the morning the Lord resurrected. It’s not to prove our validity.
Churches who were born on the day of Pentecost got together in synagogue and houses and worshiped God everyday.
The most important thing is to rejoice together and unite their heart in one. This is the service for the people who were filled with the Holy Spirit.
Philippians 3:3

Beauty of the light

This photo is a street in front of Sapporo station. When we watch these illuminated trees, we forget tough, cold, and long winter.
Night comes to everyone.
In your life, you might feel you lose your way and can’t see your future. P
lease look up to the Lord at that time. God will shine you with His beautiful glory. The light in the darkness is what makes the light beautiful.

Servant's joy

This photo is a staff meeting at Hope Chapel. (Each ministry has a meeting.) Usually, they are relaxing, warm-hearted, and friendly but they are serious in this meeting.
On the day I was saved, I proclaimed to dedicate my life to God. Since that day, I’ve served God in whatever I do.
I believe everyone has a different way to serve God. Some people serve God through their job, through music, at home, or as a politician. Of course, some people serve God in a church as a full time worker.
Right now, I can say this with conviction. To dedicate my life to God is the best life for me. Romans 12:1

When the door of the Word opens,

The light shines in your heart and what will happen?
Although they are so stubborn,
Although they are so busy,
Although they are so mindless,
Although they are so doubtful,
Although they are so wounded,
Although they are so disappointed,
Although they are so sad,
You will realize God’s mercy, people’s unreasonableness, righteousness, and ugliness of sin.
Also, you will be changed to the one who live by the Lord’s grace.

One not two

I’ll introduce my wife’s talents. (These talents are the things that I can’t do or I’m not good at.) She got 900 on TOEIC test 7 years ago. (I believe her score is more than that right now.) She can interpret and translate English to Japanese and Japanese to English. She has an ability of teaching language. (She is a Japanese teacher.) She can play the piano and write a music note as she listens CD. Her reading speed is doubled faster than me. She can wash dishes tripled faster than me. She can type 5 times faster than me.
We got married in 1996. At first, I didn’t know why we needed these talents.
In Genesis Chapter 2, it says about the first marriage in this world. Our God said man and woman become one not two. Although we try hard, we can’t do any but if two people become one and serve the Lord, an impossible thing becomes possible.

Confrontation in India

There has been intimidating situation in Andra Pradesh state in India since the end of last year. Conflict between Andra people and Terangana people has heated up because one of them wants to split up this state. (Thousands of people joined demonstrations and 4 people committed suicide for protest, so the government placed the entire area under a 24-hour curfew.) The problem is Hyderabad, the capital city of A.P. state, might belong to the new state. This is a good chance for Terangana people to escape from poverty but Andra people think their big companies might be bereaved by the new state. This is a serious problem for both of them.
By the way, this photo is a daily life in India. There are many flocks of cows, buffaloes, goats, and pigs there. These animals are walking on the street as if they own the place. Although people are in a savage situation, these animals don’t care and walk as they like.
People supposed to be better than animals. We supposed to know that throwing our life away or bereaving other’s life is a big problem and a sin.
Please pray for them with me. Heavenly Father Please have mercy on people in India. They don’t know what they are doing.

Joy of the one who were saved

He is Jason from Hope Chapel Kaneohe Bay. My wife and I went to Hawaii for 5 nights and 7 days but we met him for 4 days. He is big and filled with joy. He attends at Sunday service several times and enjoyed God’s presence. We felt joy from the one who was saved and received joy through him.

Better place to live

The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) in England announced the list of cities for " a better place to live" on 16th of Feb. The best city is Vancouver where the Winter Olympic was held in 2009 and this is the 4th time they've been selected No.1.
My wife and I once thought of migrating there, so we understand the result very well. The second is Vienna, the third is Melbourne, the fourth is Toronto, and the fifth is Calgary. 3 cities in Canada were chosen in the top 10.
On the other hands, 4 cities in South Asia were chosen in the worst 10. Where is a better place to live for you? Any place will be a better place to live for Christians, if there is God and family. God gives us a wonderful promise. The Holy place, Jerusalem, will become a permanent dwelling place where is better than any countries or cities in this world.

God who turns good

Why are these 3 people wearing a mask?
They were planning to celebrate Christmas of Church on the Rock at their home but one girl got a swine flue. On the next day, 2 boys had a fever so the Christmas party was postponed. They were so disappointed because they were looking forward to having the party. Their father is a sushi chef. He had to stay at home for 4 days because he might infect the flue to customers. The end of the year is the busiest season for a sushi restaurant but he could take a leave of absence.
This was good news for children and his wife. Usually, he takes only 2 days off in a month and he had never spent time with his family on holidays. Children’s flu and fever were healed and these 4 days became a wonderful Christmas for them.
God turns a scary swine flue to good for this family.

Joy for worship

This photo is a Sunday service at Hope Chapel Kaneohe Bay. They have a service several times from Fri. to Sun. and attendees and worship teams are different depend on service.
Here is a Christian joke.
If 3 Christians in America get together, they start to worship God.
If 3 Christians in Korea get together, they start to pray to God.
If 3 Christians in Japan get together, they start to argue.
(The last part is not a good idea.)
When Hope Chapel started a guitar class for a mini church worship team, 50 people attended the class. In the Bible, it talks about people who worship God. They play musical instrument, dance, raise their hands, kneel down, and so on. When we worship God from our heart, we are filled with beautiful God’s presence. This is a wonderful time that we can’t replace with anything.

指輪を捨てる喜び

みなさんは、指輪物語を知っていますか？
主人公フロドが全世界を支配する力を持つ指輪を悪の手に渡さず、処分する旅に出る物語です。（この指輪を手にする者は、誰もが魅了され、手放せなくなります。）

あなたにとって、どうしても手放すことの出来ないものは何でしょうか？
富、財産、地位、名誉、趣味、仕事、結婚、子供と人によって様々でしょう。

ほとんどの人（キリスト者も含め）にとって、指輪を捨てることはつらい決断であり、なぜ、それが喜びとなるのか理解できません。

これは、体験した人にしか分からない（ある意味）奥儀と呼ぶことかも知れません。
神の御前に一番魅力的なものを手放す時に、あなたの想像を超えた素晴らしい世界が待っているのです。

人として来られたイエス様は、ご自身の存在（神であること）も捨てて下さいました。

指定席の標識

Ｕシートに座っていると、相当な確率で指定券を持たずに座っている人に遭遇します。
視力に問題がある人でもなく、漢字を読めないのでもありません。
ただ、見なかった、考えていなかっただけです。
ボーっとしていたのだろう、誰にでもあることだと考えますか？

これは、ＪＲ内だけのことなのでしょうか。
神を知らない人が、自分がどこに向かい、どのような状態なのか分からないのは無理もないことです。（以前は、自分もそのような人生でした）

では、クリスチャンとなった今はどうでしょうか。
何も考えず、ただ日常に流されている時も、時計の針は止まることがありません。
切符を買って公共の乗り物に乗る。
何もむずかしくない、日常のことです。

聖霊様は、信じる者にとって、日常の中で働いてくださる助け主です。
朝起きる時も、買物に行く時も、車の運転をする時も、勉強する時も、誰かの看病をする時も、聖霊様は共にいて下さり、あなたを助けて下さる御方なのです。

今日、神様はあなたに何を示して下さいましたか？

日曜の礼拝

インドネシアで驚くことは、礼拝する時間です。
日曜は、朝の５時から礼拝するところも少なくありません。

人はよく固定観念を持ちやすいもので、自分が育った環境が標準と考えます。
安息日を土曜にすることが正しいと主張する人たちもいるようです。
（ちなみに、ユダヤ教では金曜の日没から土曜の日没までです。）

新しい契約では、イエスキリストを信じる者は律法下にはありません。
日曜に礼拝する理由は、主が復活してくださった朝を喜ぶことであり、
自分たちの正当性を証明するためではありません。

ペンテコステに誕生した教会は、毎日、宮でも家でも集まり、神を賛美しました。
最も注目してほしいことは、喜ぶことと心を一つにしていたことです。
これこそが、聖霊によって満たされた人々の礼拝だったのです。

ピリピ人への手紙３章３節

光の美しさ

写真は、冬の札幌駅前通りの様子です。
どんなに寒く長い冬も、このイルミネーションを見ている時はその厳しさを忘れてしまいます。

誰にでも夜はやってきます。
あなたの人生にも、暗闇に道を失い、先が見えなくなることがあるでしょう。

そのような時こそ、主を見上げて下さい。
麗しい神の栄光があなたを照らして下さるでしょう。
